Parable - Alder and Alder

Parable is a small business driven by a huge passion to capture a piece of cultural history, and recreate it for a modern audience. They create amazing hand-made candles and lamps using designs taken from a unique collection of original wallpaper printing rollers from the 19th and 20th Century.

We’ve been working with Parable since 2007, when they asked us to develop a brand for the business. We wanted to create something that looked contemporary, but reflected the origin and sophistication of their products. With such visual products, we needed to create an identity that complemented them, rather than competed with them.

Parable’s candles and lamps are for people who want luxury in their homes, and recognise the value of handmade products. To help them reach their customers we designed a consumer brochure. This was followed by product packaging, as they moved into high-end, high street retail, to complement their online sales.
